Junior Development Program at East Hartford Tennis Club
The junior development program at East Hartford Tennis club offers the most comprehensive junior tennis offerings in the Greater Hartford area.
Our progressive approach to teaching children will give them the skills and knowledge to succeed early on and have FUN!
Our professional and caring teaching staff teaches all junior development classes. To provide your child with the most positive learning environment, class size will be kept to a 5:1 student-to-professional ratio.
During the tennis season, various special events for students in the Junior Program will be offered, such as; USTA Junior Team Tennis, USTA Junior Team Practices, and Junior Game Days.

What tennis level is right for your child?
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has introduced levels of instruction based upon a child's age and skill level. The designations are Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow. Each of these has a different type of ball and court size that is used.

Red ball-ages 4 to 8
An introductory program for kids using balls that are bigger and have a softer bounce.
Lessons are taught on a 36 foot court that makes it easier for the younger players to have success. They will be able to transfer the skills they learn here to a larger court.

Orange Ball-ages 8 to 12
This class continues to use the low compression balls on a bigger 60 foot court.
The students can continue the development of their stroke techniques and learn the basics of tennis match play.

Green Ball-ages 10 to 15
A class for older yet beginning tennis players that uses a lower compression ball.
They will develop skills needed to play matches, learn proper techniques for strokes, and learn how to rally on a full sized court.

Championship-ages 10 to 18
This class is taught on a regular-sized court with the standard ball. The focus will be on stroke production techniques and match play.

High School and Advanced Championship-ages 12 to 18
This class is for high school-level players and the serious championship-level players interested in a more competitive environment.

High-Performance Junior Development Tennis
High-Performance Training Program is for competitive players who are looking to compete at the NCAA Division 1 (DI), Division 2 (DII), and Division 3 (DIII).
The High Performance Tennis and Tournament Training Center Tennis programs are for competitive players who wish to learn the ins and outs of the game of tennis.
The practices are designed to expand the player's abilities by training them outside of their comfort zone.
Students for this program must be approved through Mike Carducci. Contact either the club or Mike for more information.
